More Cargo At Lyttelton

Lyttelton continued to be a busy port in December and January. Statistics of cargo given to the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday showed increases for both months compared with the corresponding months of the previous year.

The 180,296 tons handled in December (175,397 tons in December, 1961) and the 112,878 tons last month (74,237) brought the total handled since the beginning of the board's financial year in October to 514,010 tons, compared with 469.760 tons in the corresponding period a year ago.
