World Status For N.Z. Tournament

( N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Feb. 7.

The world surf . casting championships will open in Rotorua on February 17. This is the first time the International Casting Federation has granted world status to a New Zealand tournament.

The tournament organisers, the Rotorua Fishing and Casting Club, has arranged a three-day meeting with the actual championship events on February 18 and 19. The major prize will be the Oscar Reeve Memorial Trophy, donated to commemorate the memory of a member of the Opotiki Club, who at the age of 70 won a place in the New Zealand team which competed at Sydney in 1959.
