H. Anderton’s Team Strengthened

DUNEDIN, Feb. 7. Akatarawa. No Offence, and Sister Coral, which are owned by Mr A. Clouston, of Upper Hutt, have joined H. A. Anderton's stable at Wingatui and will strengthen the- large team of jumpers he already has in work. Anderton, who topped the trainers’ last last season, recently recommissioned Paper Clip. Port Lanyard, Promise, Arctic Star, Sir Edwin,

Prince Ermine, Ben Ledi, □hartley Park, Pullman, and the good handicap horse. Ravelston. Akatarawa was a brilliant front runner who did most of his racing in Australia. He won the Russley Handicap at Riccarton and finished second to Lorica in the Nursery Handicap at Trentham.

No Offence is a proved cross country runner. He was the outstanding jumper at the Riverton meeting where he won the Great Western Steeplechase and the Autumn Steeplechase and he finished fourth in the Grand National at Riccarton. A six-year-old mare by Blue Coral from the Salmagundi mare, Silver SaL Silver Coral has not raced since last season, when her last placing was a second to Red View in a hack sprint at Napier. Well Forward Sahib, a seven-year-old brother to the brilliant sprinter, Rochdale, was recently purchased by Mr Jack Dymand, of Dunedin, and he looks well forward to make a fresh start. The winner of five races last season. Promise was one of the best hurdlers in the South Island.

Arctic Star won steeplechase events at Invercargill and at Washdyke and Sir Edwin won the Wayte Memorial Steeples at Gore and the Riverton Steeplechase. Paper Clip won the Styx Hurdles at the Grand National meeting and the Spring Hurdles at Wingatui Port Lanyard has developed into a bold jumper and he could take high rating this jumping season. He won the Pareora Steeples at Washdyke and the Eastern Southland Steeplechase at Gore. He was also placed as a hurdler on the two days of the Dunedin spring meeting.
