(N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, February 6. The first issue of Britain’s new Russian - language magazine “Angliya” with a foreword by the Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan), goes on sale in 84 Russian cities this week.
Publication of this pocket sized quarterly magazine of 120 pages was hailed as “an important event” by Mr Macmillan. He said he supported any steps leading to an improvement in the exchange of information which would widen mutual understanding between the two peoples. The magazine aims to be non-political and concentrates on cultural, scientific and technical aspects of British life.
The first article is bv Sir Bernard Lovell, on Jodrell Bank, and other articles deal with the Royal Ballet, Britain’s achievements in vertical flight, the new liner Canberra, a small boat race across the Atlantic, British toys and football.
