COMMERCIAL Australian Shares Rise Sharply
Australian share prices in brisk trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday reacted sharply to Mr Menzies’ announcement earlier in the day of measures to stimulate the economy.
Among overseas shares there were 17 rises to only five falls and 16 of the rises were Australian.
Sharpest rises were made by Australian National Industries, Commercial Bank of Australia, Ampol shares and 1963 notes. A.C.I. rights, Blue Metal Industries, ex dividend, 8.H.P., C.S.R. and 1.C.1.
G. J. Coles, Reid Murray and Woolworths also improved. Best gains among New Zealand shares were made by Waitaki Farmers and Alex Han ey B.
