N.Z. CLOTHING FOR INDIA
Salvation Army’s
Gratitude
Four bales of good used clothing worth £1750, sent to India by C.0.R.5.0. from Christchurch and Wellington, have been highly praised by the Salvation Army in Calcutta. The shipment of more than 2500 garments for men and women arrived in time for Christmas during one of the coldest spells in the city’s history. In a letter to the national headquarters of C.0.R5.0., Major R. B. Lesher said that in more than 30 years of social work the Salvation Army had never seen material so carefully selected, well sorted, labelled and cleaned The quality was the best the Army had ever handled. “Please express our sincere thanks both to the original donors and to those who prepared the shipment” said Major Lesher in his letter.
