GOODWILL CRUISE
New Frigate On Tour f N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 7. The new frigate Taranaki will leave Auckland at 9 am. tomorrow on a “Goodwill Cruise" to four southern ports.
Her first call is at Napier where she will stay until Monday, when she leaves for Wellington, Dunedin and New Plymouth. She is due back in Auckland on February 24. The new captain of H.M.N.ZJS. Otago, Commander J. F. McKenzie, who was formerly the New Zealand military liaison officer tn Hong Kong, will take command of the frigate tomorrow.
The Otago is having repairs made to a boiler exhaust fan. She is expected to sail either on Friday or Saturday for Singapore, calling at Townsville and Darwin on the way, to take part in an exercise with he British Far Bast Fleet. She is scheduled to return to Auckland on April 16. Her present captain. Commender M. J. McDowell, will take over as chief staff officer to the Commodore, Auckland. on February 16, from Commander J.
