Record Price For Bull
<NZ Press Assn.—Copynphli LONDON February 7 The British record price for a farm animal was broken yesterday when two Argentine breeders paid 33.000 guineas for an 11-month-old bull at the Aberdeen-Angus sale in Perth Scotland The sale broke last year’s 'ecord of 29.200 guineas ’The Times’ reported The oul was sold by Mrs A F Wallace of Candacraig Aberdeenshire It was bough: by Messrs Mario Hirsch and A M Leloir. both of Buenos Aires Province ”1 have never been to Perth before and I intend ne’-er to come back because I spent too much tnonev." Mr Hirsch said with a rueful smile
"The Times' said o.dding for the bull. lumbos Eric was a stirring international contest with Britain the United States Argentina and New Zealand contributing Bidding opened at 5000 guineas and with hesitations at 16.50 C guineas and 20.500 guineas ascended to 25.000 guineas at which an English bidder and the two Argentines were alone The United States and New Zealand had abdicated The 348 bulls sold at the sale realised £265.454 inelud ing £lO7 026 for export.
Embargo imposed.—T n e United States today put into force its total embargo on imports from Cuba to sap Dr Fidel Castro’s dollar supply and hamper Cuban infiltration of other Latin American countries. United Press International reported. —Washington, Feb. 7.
