Toots, apparently as is his wont, was put to bed in the garage on Friday night at the home of his owner. Mr M. L. Boyd.
The garage was also occupied by Mr Boyd's 12ft 9in racing boat Tranquil. On Saturday Mr Boyd took Tranquil by trailer to Kairaki where the Waimakariri Sailing Club was conducting a series of races. In the morning event Mr Boyd did not do very well: but after that race he gained the feel of his boat—there was little wind—and improved to finish fourth.
Yesterday morning, members of the Waimakariri Sailing Club heard what they thought was a cat mewing in their boatshed. On investigation they found the noise coming from Mr Boyd’s boat which had been left overnight at Kairaki—Mr Boyd not intending
