Mr J. W. Ridley, Ministry of Works project engineer at the Benmore hydro-electric scheme from 1958 until he resigned last month, has joined the Melbourne office of the Utah Construction and Engineering Pty., Ltd., which has contracts with the Snowy Mountains Authority. The annual award from the New Zealand Company of Master Mariners for the best second mate of the year for 1960 has been awarded to Mr Dale Cole, third officer of the Eastern Star, now at Auckland. He is the son of Mr Gordpn i ' l Cple, manager of the office of the Uni®O)iS4eam Ship Company. tic The ehawman of the CommitteeoaXMlnquiry into New Zealand 110 Education, Sir George Currie, hopes to retire to Canberra in April.
