MOSCOW, February 3.
Lyudmila Motina ran 60 metres in 7.2 seconds at the Leningrad winter stadium today, setting a world indoor record and equalling the outdoor world record, Moscow Radio announced. The world outdoor record of 7.2 seconds was set by Betty Cuthbert, of Australia, in 1960 and equalled the same year by Irina Bochkareva. of Russia.
Request To Press.— The West German Press Council today unanimously approved a resolution advising newspapers to cease reporting details of refugee escapes from East Germany, the British United Press reported. Publication of details of such escapes, the council said, “has shown by experience to result in an even tighter cordoning off.”—Bonn, January 31.
