Sir,—l noted with interest recently that Lord Cobham’s Coat of Arms bear the crest of a Moor’s head. I would be interested if any reader could inform me as to the origin of this, particularly as such a crest occurs in my own family. I understand that crests with a Saracen’s head have denoted participation in the Crusades. Would the possessor of a Moor’s head crest have been originally concerned in expelling the Moor's from Spain? If so. how do English families happen to possess this device?—Yours, etc..
