HALF-WAY HOUSE
Highway To Tiiranai /NZ Press Association) | WANGANUI. Nov. IX The Tongariro National Park Board has given the goahead signal for the erection of a half-way house on the lonely Waiouru-Turangi highway. It will replace the roadhouse which was destroyed by fire. At a meeting of the board today, at the Ohakune Borough Council Chambers, it approved an application from Mr G. B. Davis, Turangi, to erect a roadside house for refreshments and petrol. Ultimate plans are for the development of a motor camp at the site, which is 100 yards south of the previous roadhouse, and 21 miles from Waiouru. The board was told today that Mr Davis hoped to make an immediate start with the project.
