Fine Speed On Plough Just to sh6w that he had come to no harm from hi* race in the New Zealand Derby last Saturday, Castlerae gave a dazzling exhibition of speed on the plough at Riccarton yerttanday Outcome (L. K. TinaleyT tried to match Caatlerse (K S. Cullen) for pace over half a mile but the Otaki colt was much too speedy and beat bis Jockey Club Handicap rival by two lengths after reeling off the last three furlongs in 34 3-ssec. The best of the other horseo with engagements at Riccarton today which were sprinted yesterday was Minglow (E. J. Didham). She dashed home the three in 36 2-ssec Stetson (A J. Stoke*) and Detector ‘R. J. Skelton* covered the same ground in 36 4-ssec. McCool (C McDonald) ran home from the three in 37 2-seec and Cardinal King, with the same rider up, took 40 2-ssec for a similar task Key (K. S. Cullen) showed to advantage by drawing away from Derailment (B. S. Finlayson) and Mhor (A. J. Stokes) over the concluding stages of their seven furlong gallop. Key beat her companions by three length* and recorded the smart time of Imin 27sec. the last three in 37sec.
