Mr Stillwell’s Comment
The officers pf the Christchurch Transport Board were p-t in any way to blame for any results of the board’s original decision restricting the carriage of prams on buses, said the chairman of the board (Mr R. H. Stillwell) at a meeting of the board yesterday. “There seems to be a misunderstanding as to who are the authors of the original rule restricting the carriage of prams,” said Mr Stillwell. “The decision- making the 4.30 pun. deadline at any part of the route, instead of scheduled trips, was passed by the beard. The management—the officers of the board—acted on the resolution of the board, and therefore is not in any way to blame for the subsequent results, “The onus for any complaints received is on the board, and not on its employees.” said Mr Stillwell. "We hope the board’s amended rule will help to rectify the position and greatly lessen the annoyance to mothers.” Mr N. R. Forbes said he was pleased the chairman had raised the subject, because he had intended to do so himself. “It is'most unfair that correspondents in the newspapers has criticised the board’s employees," Mr gorbes said
