Last Big Advance Parties Leave
The third and fourth advance parties from the Ist Battalion, New Zealand Regiment. will fly from Whenuapai to Malaya today, Brineing the advance total to 15 officers and 85 other ranks, together with their dependants. these two flights will be the last to carry large administrative and training advance parties. The commanding officer 'Lieutenant-Colonel L. A. Pearce) said yesterday that another small party would leave on Sentember 20. The airlift of the main body would begin during November. After having X-ray examinations at Burnham Military Camp today and yesterday, more than 800 men from the battahon will have their final medicals at the week-end. On Monday, September 18. advance parties will leave Burnham for field-craft ex* '7>ses to be held at Waiouru later this month.
