Transmitter For 3YA

(From Out Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. The new 20 kilowatt transmitters for 3YA and 4YA would be in service late this month, said the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Kinsella) tonight. They will replace the existing 10 kilowatt transmitters. Auckland’s new transmitter would come into service early next month. Mr Kinsella also announced that the electrical wiring, technical adjustment, and other work involved in the installation of the new 100 kilowatt transmitter at Titahi Bay- for 2YA had been completed. The transmitter was now in regular service. This replaced the 60 kilowatt transmitter previously in use (now being used for 2YC) and would give improved reception in distant areas. Preliminary arrangements were being made for allnight broadcasting, which would be initiated as soon as possible.
