Technical And Professional (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Sept. 3. Every encouragement should be £iven young Maoris of talent to move into the technical and professional fields. Waiariki young Maori leaders said this during the denary session of their conference at Rotorua today. The conference also carried a recommendation that the Commonwealth Technical Training Week should be more widely publicised in rural areas to give young Maoris a greater knowledge of the wide variety of occupations available. A third recommendation on employment was that Maori tradesmen should be invited to return to the rural areas and talk to younger Maoris on aspects of their particular trade. Delegates said the system of apprenticeship wages should be reviewed with a view to giving apprentices a reasonable standard of living. A recommendation to that effect was carried.
