Final Day’s Judging (N Z. Press Association) TIMARU. September 3. Jennifer Dunn (Fairlie. South Canterbury) on Sari won the Dorothy Campbell Trophy event during the second, and final., day of the New Zealand Pony Club championships which were held at Rosewtll. Timaru, on Saturday. Miss Dunn recorded clear rounds in both the cross-country and show jumping phases of the event, and was placed second in the dressage phase. Forty competitors, under the age of 17, representing various areas of the Dominion, took part In , the event. The South Canterbury team, of which Miss Dunn was a member, was placed first in the teams’ championship. Other placings in the Dorothy Campbell Trophy event were: Diana Dunn (South Canterbury). on Young Blaze. 41 66 penalty points. 2; Neil Anderson (Christchurch). Karara. 48.66. 3: Maureen O’Hara (North Wairarapa). Lightning, 52, 4. At the conclusion of the championship the following trophies which were won during the two days of the contest were presented:— A.l Cup, for riders under 21, Diana Cunningham (Christchurch); Dorothy Campbell Trophy, presented by the New Zealand Pony Clubs' Association for competitors under 17, Jennifer Dunn (South Canterbury); Teams’ Championship Cup. for area teams of three or four riders under 21. South Canterbury team: KnoxThompson Perpetual Challenge Cup. for the winner of the dressage phase in the A.l event, Leslie Dunn (South Canterbury); Dickens Perpetual Challenge Cup, for the winner of the dressage phase in the Dorothy Campbell trophy event, Anne Sherriff (Gisborne!.
The overall standard of the younger competitors in the dressage phase of today's event was better than that of the under 21 competitors In the A l event on Friday, commented the judges of the dressage section (Mrs A. Crowther. Christchurch, and Miss M. Stevenson, Dacre). The place-getters performed the tests with smooth accuracy, the horses going well on the bit, the judges said. Cross-Country Event In the cross-country event, 16 riders recorded clear rounds. The chief judge of the event, Mr W. R. Duncan (Taihape), said that the event was a beautiful exhibition of crosscountry riding and jumping. Vintage; Ross Munro (Central Hawke's Bay), Alamein; Jennifer Dunn (South Canterbury), Sari; Tom Mills (Hamilton), Lady Florence: Robert Mitchell (Blenheim), Bimbo. Show Jumping In the show jumping event the following 23 competitors had clear rounds: Lynds Trewsvss (Nelson), Black Watch; Susan Thomson (New Plymouth). Mystery: Vicki Todd (Christchurch), Royal Comet. The South Canterbury team, with Leslie Dunn competing in the Al Cup event, and Jennifer Dunn, Diana Dunn, and Judith Scott in the Dorothy Campbell event, won the Teams’ Championship Cup. The team had a total of 154 penalty points, other Gisborne-Walroa. 219.7, 4.
