LONDON. Sept. 3. A powerful force under the command of Pekingtrained guerrilla leaders was encamped along the frontiers of the Southern Cameroons, the “Sunday Telegraph” reported today. It was preparing to exploit the security gap being created by the withdrawal of all British troops from the territory, the report said. The evacuation of the British forces was to be completed by the end of this month. Then the Southern
Cameroons ceased to be a British Trust Territory and would unite with the Cameroon Republic. British staff working on plantations in the Southern Cameroons were fortifying their homes and arming themselves against attack, the report said. British intelligence sources believed the terrorists were likely to begin an offensive this month, even before the troops pulled out, the report said. They were known to be over 2000-strong, living in military-type camps along the mist-enshrouded, thicklyforested mountains on the borders with the Cameroon Republic.
