PRAMS ON BUSES
Housewives’ Union View

The union intended to write to the Transport Board asking it to put a notice In every bus. saying that prams over the maximum regulation weight would not be carried. Mrs Furey said. The housewives' union was instrumental in obtaining the carriage of prams on buses ■ Mrs Furey said that if women j robbed themselves of this amenity, it was their own fault for not buying the recommended pram for carryi ing on buses “We appeal to the mothers of Christchurch to co-operate with the Tramway Workers' Union and thus keep a very valuable amenity.” she said.

attached, and nothing heavier than that type of pram would be carried on a bus. “The whole matter is at present being considered by the Transport Board," he said yesterday. Buses now carry notices saying that prams which are not regulation size and weight will not be carried after a certain date next year. The present maximum regulations are: Weight. 33Ib:j length. 39ins; denth. 17ins:< overall width, 221 ins. j
