WEST INDIES TEST SIDE
Omission Of Watson Criticised
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) MELBOURNE, December 8.
Australia would face a “crazy 1West Indies cricket team in the first test which would begin in Brisbane tomorrow, said the Melbourne “Sun.” The West Indies had left out its pace bowler, C. Watson.
Watson should have been in the side because he was the only new-ball bowler who consistently attacked the stumps, said the paper.
The omission of Watson enabled the West Indies to include seven batsmen—Smith, Hunte, Kanhai. Sobers, Worrell, Solomon, and Lashley. The West Indies' attack would be opened by its fast bowler. W. Hall, and the captain. F. Worrell. Hall had not bowled at full pace, even at practice, for nearly two weeks.
Worrell had not bowled since playing against Victoria three weeks ago. He had been nursing a torn thigh muscle for two weeks, said the paper.
