WORK FOR SAFETY IN INDUSTRY

Plaque To Be Awarded To Mr I. Matheson (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 8. The first plaque for meritorius performance in the promotion of industrial safety awarded by the National Safety Association will be presented to Mr lan Matheson, president of the association, at a ceremony in the Workers’ Compensation Board offices tomorrow. As chairman of the Workers' Compensation Board, Mr Matheson has stimulated the interest of the board in the association’s affairs, and as president of the association’s executive committee he helped to guide the association through many difficulties in the early years of its existence. The association was Mr Matheson’s idea, and through his effort was inaugurated in 1954. It has been modelled on the best features of similar organisations overseas.
