£4m Chemical Plant Near Perth

Press Association—Copyright) PERTH, December & An agreement signed yesterday by the Western Australian Gov. ernment and the British chemicals firm, Laporte Industries, Ltd., provides for establishment of a £4m titanium oxide pigment industry at Bunbury, 110 miles south of Perth, by 1964. The State Premier (Mr David Brand) ‘ said at a ceremony in which he and the Laporte group chairman (Mr P. D. O’Brien) signed the agreement, that it marked a major advance in the Government’s decentralisation policy and a vital break-through into the chemical industry. Products of the new industry were expected to be worth more than £2%m annually.

1.C.1. Board.—lt is announced from London that Viscount Amory, P.C., has been appointed an additional director of 1.C.1.. Ltd., with effect from December 8, 1960. He will act as a non-executive director.
