Chance For Samantha At Hutt Park Meeting

Samantha will have a great chance of qualifying for the Auckland Cup on December 27 when she parades in the W. T. Anderton Handicap, the first leg of the double on the opening night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting at Hutt Park Raceway tomorrow. Samantha looked unlucky to be pushed back through the field at the straight entrance in the President’s Handicap at New Brighton last Saturday. At the time she was pacing easily and looked a likely place-getter. She raced impressively over two miles at Addington last month and on the strength of her placings there, she is entitled to favouritism.

Frown paced fine races at Addington last month, finishing second, third and fifth in his three races. He has raced most consistently this season, but luck has been against him. He could make amends in this field. The smart Pukekohe four-year-old, Fitment, is also attempting to qualify for the Auckland Cup. He stays w’ell and should be in at the finish. Zany, Light Mood, Sebabu and Spring Chat are others capable of adding interest to the finish. Gildirect, runner-up to Young Dieman at Addington at his most recent start, looks well enough placed to win the second leg, the Seatoun Handicap. Gildirect looks to have improved since being trained by C. S. Donald, at Belfast. Dark Signal. Yarki. Aquaplane, Nadjehda and King Anjou appeal most of the remainder. Fair weather is expected tomorrow and unless there is heavy rain the track will be in splendid order. Double fields, with form, are:— W. T.
