Labour will again increase your personal Income Tax exemption When Labour again becomes the Government, thousands more people will no longer be required to pay income tax. No single person earning up to £lO a week will pay income tax. No married man, with dependent wife, earning up to £l5 a week, will pay income tax. No married couple, with two children, earning up to £lB a week, will pay income tax. Labour has pledged that, in proportion as national income increases, the rates of taxation will be progressively reduced. Raising the personal exemption from £9 to £lO per week for single people and from £l2 to £l5 per week for married persons will be the first step.
