DISPUTES AT KAWERAU
Unions To Meet Management
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 23.
An inquiry into labour relations at the Tasinan Pulp and Paper Company's mill at Kawerau will be held about the middle of next month.
The inquiry will take the form of a conference between union representatives and the mill management. It will probably be presided over by the Secretary of Labour (Mr H. L. Bockett) and held at Rotorua.
The secretary of the North Island Electrical Workers' Union (Mr A. J. Neary) said in Auckland tonight that he was awaiting confirmation of the dates from Mr Bockett.
Mr Neary said he hoped all aspects of industrial relations at the mill would be discussed.
The managing-director of the company (Mr D. W. Timmis) said an attempt would be made at the conference to establish machinery for the handling of disputes without upsetting work at the mill. The parties involved would try to “iron out any differences there may be.”
