Mr S. W. Smith, member of Parliament for Hobson, who was admitted to hospital in Wellington on Wednesday, was reported yesterday to be improving. It is understood Mr Smith may be discharged from hospital today.— (P.A.)
The Canterbury Mental Health Council has appointed Dr. H. D Livingstone its representative to attend the conference of the World Federation of Mental Health in Edinburgh in August.
The Rev. F. W Wilkes, of Christchurch, will fly to Auckland today to take part in the centennial celebrations of the Northrote parish church. Mr Wilkes, now aged 81. was the vicar of this church when it held its seventy-fifth anniversary in 1935. The trip to Auckland will be his first flight by commercial aeroplane.
