PRESIDENT AT AUCKLAND
Wide Interest In Election “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. June 23. The president of the Auckland Trotting Club (Dr. M. G. Pezaro) will retire next month and changes in the rules governing the election of the club’s president and vice-presidents have caused widespread discussion about who will succeed him. Nominations do not close until July 5 but two prominent candidates already are Messrs P. R. and H. Bull. Mr R. Lewis, who was appointed vice-president after the death of Mr W. W. Massey early in the season, was expected to be nominated but it is understood he will stand for his present position. He is a member of the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Mr Bridgens. a former member of the confeernce, was a vicepresident of the club for many years and is now treasurer. Mr Bull was a committee member and vice-president and was a member of the New Zealand Trotting Association. Early interest in the elections is far more widespread than usual and there may be other candidates. It will be the first time members will be able to vote for these offices.
