NASSELLA STAFF SITUATION

Sixty-eight applications had been received for the advertised position of second deputy-inspec-tor to the North Canterbury Nassella Tussock Board, the secretarymanager (Mr F. J. Foley) reported to the meeting yesterday. Two new rangers had been employed, one at Waiau and one at Waipara, and there was sWI a vacancy for a ranger at Waikari. Grubbing gangs were not up to full strength and the Glenbourne camp had not yet been reopened.
The - analysis of wages for the grubbing gangs showed that from April 1 to June 8638 hours had been spent in Kowai, 5856 in Waipara, 2212 in Amuri, and 1145 in Cheviot. Rangers up to May 31 ranged and grubbed 250 hours in Kowai, 1404 in Waipara, 627 in Amuri, and 339 in Cheviot. Mr Foley said.
