MR S. W SMITH (Opposition, Hobson) was admitted to hospital in Wellington last evening. Mr Smith, who is 67, attended the opening of Parliament and was one of the rst Opposition members on his feet at question time in the House of Representatives. He was Minister of Internal Attain in the National Government. He has already announced his retirement from politics at the end of this session.—(P.A.)
