Cricket VICTORY OVER HAMPSHIRE

Last-Minute Win By South Africa

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SOUTHAMPTON, June 21

The South Africans scored a nine-wicket win in the last over of extra time against Hampshire at Southampton today. But victory was overshadowed by the continued no-balling of the fast bowler. G. Griffin.

The Springboks needed only 35 to win in half an hour of extra time when they batted the second time-. They scored 37 for the loss of C. Duckworth. Griffin was no-balled four times today for throwing. He has now been no-balled for this offence 17 times during the tour. The Hampshire batsmen took advantage of the weakened Springbok attack. The openers, R. E. Marshall and J. Gray, took the score to 89 when Marshall was out for 43. Gray quickly followed him, out for 51. H. Horton and M. Barnard hit out freely when they came together and put on 139 for the fourth wicket. When they went —Barnard for 77 and Horton for 117 —Hampshire crumbled. H. J. Tayfield, bowling on an unhelpful pitch, took six Hampshire wickets for 78. giving him a match analysis of 11 for 144.
