Mr K. Austin’s Memory

The perpetuation of the name of the late Mr Ken Austin, owner of the Inglewood Stud at Kaiapoi and a - steward of the Canterbury Jockey Club, was referred to the committee of the club for consideration by the annual meeting yesterday. “No man was more highly respected in racing than Mr, Austin,** said Mr H. S. Williams, moving the recommendation.

To perpetuate Mr Austin’s name, Mr Williams suggested that a race should be named after him or after the bestknown horse he had bred and raced, Monte Carlo. The chairman (Mr G. H. Grigg), who had earlier referred to Mr Austin’s death and said that Mr Austin would be sadly missed, said the committee would be happy to consider the suggestion.
