New Ship Ordered For Coastal Trade

(New Zealand Press Association/ NAPIER, June 9. The Napier shipping firm, Messrs Richardson and Company, today signed a contract with the Clyde shipbuilding yard of James Lamont and Company for the delivery in 12 months of a new vessel for the New Zealand coastal trade. The contract was signed by Mr S. A. Bradshaw, general manager of Richardson and Company, and Mr T. Ness, a director of Lamonts. The new vessel will be of the open shelter deck type with machinery and accommodation aft. It will be similar to the company’s Parera, but slightly larger, with a deadweight tonnage of 1200, compared with the Patera’s 1000 tons.
