Glided Over The Border

Officials of the world gliding championships in Cologne are today trying to arrange the return of an American glider pilot who strayed into East Germany during a long-distance flight yesterday. The pilot, whose name was given as Schreder, was understood to have landed safely at Gevesmuehlen, about 20 miles inside East Germany. The American was one of 54 competitors making for a point near Kiel on a 325-mile flight from Cologne. A coastal radio station at Kiel picked up an East German radio report . that Schreder had landed safely in East Germany.
