CUP DOUBLE AT MELBOURNE

Tulloch Already Favourite (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 9. Tulloch already is favourite for both the Caulfield and the Melbourne Cups for the fourth year in succession. Entries for the spring double were announced yesterday. Tulloch’s trainer, T. J. Smith, at present in England, also cotild have the second favourite, Sparkler. Sparkler, like Tulloch, is New Zealand-bred, but recently was bought for an Australian owner. The entry of the English horse, Mullin, in both cups has aroused a lot of interest. No English horse has won the Caulfield Cup since Denis Boy in 1931, and it Is 36 years since the English stallion, Backwood, won the Melbourne Cup. Mullin, owned by Mr Stanley Wootton, owner of Todman and Noholme, is a six-year-old. This son of Hard Sauce (sire of the English Derby winner. Hard Ridden) and the Cononach mare, Baby Blue, has won five races in England this season.
