THE ALLAN GARDNER MEMORIAL TROPHY for life-saving contests in schools was presented to the Cashmere High School yesterday. Holding the trophy are two senior pupils, Valerie Mallinson and Simon Penny. With them is Mr G. D. Griffiths, president of the New Zealand Council of the Royal Life-saving Society, and (left) Mr T. H. McCombs, headmaster of the school. The trophy was given by the Auckland branch of the society and is awarded each season to the school gaining the highest number of resuscitation certificates. Cashmere won more than 600 certificates.
