Minor Counties Beaten

A fine -innings of 124 by their captain. D. J. McGlew, backed up by splendid bowling, enabled the South African cricketers to race to a twq-day victory by nine wickets over Minor Counties at Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, today. The South Africans. made 373 and 20 for one wicket. Minor Counties 220 and 170. The Springbok left-hander, C. Wesley, made an enterprising 90. The later batsmen failed against the spin of J. T. Ikin and J. Birkenshaw, the last five wickets going down for only 31 runs. Ikin, a former England and Lancashire player, finished with six for 79. But with N. A. T. Adcock (five for 31) and H. J. Tayfield (three for 46) in fine form, the South Africans raced through the Minor Counties second innings and won in extra time. Scores:
