BREAD WAR IN WHANGAREI
Supply Of Ordered Loaves Only “The Press" Special Service WHANGAREI, May 31. A bread war started in Whangarei today. The twe Whangarei bakers have formed a distribution company, and only bread ordered ill be supplied To counter this, a large department store has announced that il will secure its bread from the baker at Portland, who has announced that he had received requests for 12,000 loaves a week a total beyond his capacity. The Hikurangi Businessmen’s Association has protested againsl what it calls “the proposed monopoly and restrictive sales practice” in bread in the district.
