CHILLED BEEF FROM N.Z.

Peak Prices For First Shipment

(New Zealand Press Association/ WELLINGTON, June 1.

The first consignment of New Zealand chilled beef seen for some considerable time arrived in London recently and sold at peak prices for this time of the year, says the New Zealand Meat Producers Board’s London market report for April-May. The consignment was a small parcel which was given fairly wide distribution throughout the South and Midlands of England. “Undoubtedly a good number of retailers are interested in this excellent New Zealand chilled beef, and if regular arrivals in

good condition could be maintained there is no reason why it should not achieve a steady trade in the upper price brackets for chilled beef,” the report says. It adds that the consignment referred to was “of very excellent quality and in good condition.”
