PROJECTS FOR CITY

Chamber Of Commerce Seeks Priorities

Seven projects have been proposed by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce as worthy of its support, and all members of the chamber have been asked to arrange the future objectives in an order of priority. Listed by the chamber are:—

Provision of a jet runway at the Christchurch airport Rebuilding of decayed housing areas in the city. Further facilities at the airport. Harbour extension and port facilities.

Northern and southern transport outlets. Removal of overhead wiring. Pedestrian subways in the city. Members are also asked for suggestions on other projects they consider the chamber should pursue.

The achievements of the rhamber in its first 100 years could not have been attained without forward thinking followed by deliberate planning, acenrrtlng to the president (Mr R. C. Neville).
