RANGITIKEI CUP
Good Chance For Elsted
“The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Feb. 13. Elsted, Hot Drop, Diadochl and Savage are among the most fancied horses which will contest the Rangitikei Cup. at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s summer meeting at Bulls tomorrow. The Rangitikei Cup is worth £lOOO. is run over one mile and three furlongs. and is the first leg of the T.A.B. double. Savage would be a class above this moderate field if he could reproduce anything like the form he showed at three and four years, but he has not won a race in 10 starts since he was successful at Hastings in the spring. He has. however, shown Improvement in his training lately, and he may be ready to show better public fortn. Elsted, which is trained on the Bulls track, is certain to be one of the favourites. He found the top class stayers at Trentham a little beyond him, but In his start before that he won the Marton Cup, and tomorrow’s .provincial ciaaa would be well within the scope. The second leg is the Mengatapu Handicap, for which Blonde Sprite. Fair King. Solepic, Glrvan, and Spiborough will be the best backed division. The track has been firm at Bulls for some weeks, and what rain has fallen has had little effect. The forecast is for occasional showers. Selections:— 11.15 a.m.—Pukehou High-welght: Isle of Capri.
