Tunku Gives Dinner Party At End Of Wellington Visit

WELLINGTON, January 25.
The Prime Minister of Malaya (Tunku Abdul Rahman) was host tonight at a dinner party after another successful day’s racing at Trentham. The Tunku and his wife, Puan Sharifah Rodziah, were accompanied to the course by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Holloway), who was the eighth Cabinet Minister to be attached to the visitors at different stages of their tour of New Zealand.
The Tunku saw the complete programme at Trentham and picked four winners and was successful in two place bets. His wife began the day well, but was unsuccessful over the last few events.
On their return to Wellington the Tunku and Puan Sharifah prepared to receive their guests, who were:—the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) and Mrs Nash, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) and Mrs Skinner, the Minister of Education (Mr Skoglund), the Chief Justice (Sir Harold Barrowclough) and Lady Barrowclough, the Australian High Commissioner (Sir John Collins) aryd Lady Collins, the New Zealand High Commissioner in Malaya (Mr C. M. Bennett), the Secretary of External Affairs (Mr A. D. Mclntosh) and Mrs Mclntosh, the Secretary of Internal Affairs (Mr J. V. Meech) and Mrs Meech, the Mayor of Wellington (Mr F. J. Kitts, M.P.) and Mrs Kitts, and the wife of the Leader of the Opposition, Mrs K. J. Holyoake.
After dinner the Tunku showed a film made in Malaya which recorded the highlights of the visit to that country last November of the Prime Minister of Australia (Mr Menzies) and another showing several aspects of economic, “social, and political advancement in the federation.
Just before the departure of the Prime Minister and Mrs Nasn, Puan Sharifah Rodziah presented the latter with a candelabra of horn and silver made by the finest craftsmen of Kelantan—a State in Malaya famous for its silver products—and a gold thread embroidered table runner from the State of Rengganu, also noted for this type of handcraft-
Christchurch Visit The visitors today completed their tour of the North Island, and will leave Wellington tomorrow morning for Christchurch. On the way they will fly over the Southern Alps. They will visit Canterbury Agricultural College and have lunph there, and the Tunku will be shown a crosssection of the more important activities of the college. The party will later fly to Auckland and leave for Sydney en route to Malaya on Wednesday morning. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) and Mrs Skinner will accompany the visitors to Christchurch tomorrow. They will be met at Wigram by the Minister of Transport (Mr Mathison) and Mrs Mathison.
The Tunku and his party will be bidden farewell at Auckland by Mr Nash.
