Army Faces Rioters
(Rec. 11.45 p.m.). PARIS, January 25.
French paratroopers today sealed off the last stronghold of the rioters in Algiers while the rioters, heavily-armed, awaited the next move. The rioters manning the barricades tore up and burned leaflets dropped by a French Army helicopter bearing General de Gaulle’s appeal for them to “rejoin the nation.” While some mounted guard, others were busily strengthening the barricades.
