NEW ZEALAND FERNS.—A second edition of Greta Stevenson’s handbook on New Zealand ferns has been published by Paul’s Book Arcade, Hamilton. Intended for children and beginners in the study of ferns, it is a book which can readily be taken on field studies; the many handsome pen and ink sketches will greatly help with identifications in the bush. The quality of the sketches (all by the author) is seen in the reproductions above. TOP LEFT: Marattia salicina. TOP RIGHT: Hymenophyllum pulcherrimum. BOTTOM LEFT: Blechnum lanceolatum. BOTTOM RIGHT: Asplenium falcatum. Miss Stevenson’s book is titled, “A Book of Ferns.”
