Northcote

Sir, —In your Monday’s issue there appears a report of the recent opening of the new St. Silas parish hall, which is stated as b£ing “in Styx”; in Tuesday’s issue there is a report of a meeting of residents “in the Northcote and Tuckers roads area” to seek improvements in existing sewerage services. As any local resident will tell you, the hall stands near the corner of Tuckers road and the Main North road. In one report Tuckers road is considered as being in Styx, in the other as part of a composite area which includes Northcote. Could you please enlighten me as to the exact location of the area where improvements in sewerage services are sought? Is it the State housing area off Northcote road or the area of privately-owned houses enclosed by Daniels road and Dunedin street? If the latter, it is. I understand, in Styx. —Yours, etc., NORTH PAPANUI RATEPAYER. September 29, 1959. [The secretary of the Christchurch Drainage Board (Mr T. A. Tucker) said: “The meeting to which your correspondent refers was apparently concerned with the area in the vicinity of j Tuckers road. Both the Tuckers road and the Daniels road areas come within the broad description of ‘Northcote’ so far as the - | board s planning is concerned”!
