SURVEY OF RIGHTS OF BUYERS
Consumer Council’s Plans
"The Press’ 1 Special Service
WELLINGTON, Sept. 23.
One of the first projects of the Consumer Council will be to make a survey of buyers’ rights. A pamphlet now being distributed by the council says many people, although they get a good deal of protection from such legislation as the Food and Drugs Act, the Weights and Measures Act and the Sale of Goods Act, are not sure of their rights and may suffer by not knowing. The council says it will be working all the time on suggestions to the appropriate authorities on ways of securing even better consumer protection. It needs to hear from people about their shopping problems and about their preferences. It will ask for experiences with purchases of particular goods and' about their failings and good points, and such things as ways for improving quality and style.
