Horticultural Society’s Daffodil Show

Entries in the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s annual daffodil and spring flower show in the Latimer Hall yesterday were of an exceptionally high standard in most classes, according to the judges. In the cut flowers class, the judge, Mr C. H. Jones, said that some of the older flowers did not seem to be cultivated as well as they had been in the past. In the daffodil sections the judges praised the high standard. "There are some magnificentlygrown entries." said the open class judge (Mr K. Burns, of Timaru). “The blooms are clean and in good colour," For the first time in one of its shows, the society has included a non-competitive class, A number of attractive decorative vases by society members were on display.
