PARLIAMENT’S DIARY

After brief formal business which included 10 questions, Parliament yesterday continued discussing the Estimates. Estimates passed by the time the House rose, with the amounts actually spent the previous year in parenthesis were:

Health Department, £9,000,000 (£7,585,523). Grants to hospital boards, £17.500.000 (£15,774,324). Medical and hospital benefits. £19,614,000 (£18.655,275). When the House adjourned for the week-end the Justice Department estimates were under discussion. Just before rising, the Crimes Bill, which has been three years in preparation, was introduced.

The House rose at 4.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
