Suggested
Negotiations with the Hong Kong Football Association for a tour of New Zeaiand in 1960 by a Chinese representative team, have been commenced b.v the council of the New Zealand Football Association. This information was included in a copy of the minutes of a recent council meeting received at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Footbail Association last evening.
A letter from the referee (Mr R. Wilson), of the Christchurch CityTechnical Old Boys second division match, which was called off last Saturday, was taken in committee. Later, it was agreed that the referee, together with the captains and coaches ol both teams, be requested to attend next week’s committee meeting. The president (Mr J. Smith), and committee members, criticised the broadcasting arrangements made for the Chatham Cup final played last Saturday. Mr Smith said that the Cup Final was the supreme soccer match of New Zealand, and that it should have been given a priority. It was decided to write to the council of the New Zealand Football Association expressing dissatisfaction with the broadcasting arrangements made for the South Island over national finals.
